Workshop Production Planning And Inventory Control (PPIC)

 

On Thursday 06 June 2024, the Master of Pharmacy Management Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a workshop with the pharmaceutical industry and distributor experts. The topic taken in this workshop was PPIC (Production Planning and Inventory Control) for the Pharmaceutical Industry and Pharmaceutical Distributors. This event aims to provide participants, practitioners, students, and academics insight into supply chain systems and planning for producing medicine and other pharmaceutical products.

This workshop was opened with a speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Satibi, MSi. In his speech, he expressed his high appreciation for holding this event. He conveyed that we need to know the supply chain for raw materials for medicines from upstream to downstream and the challenges at each stage, so that we, especially pharmacists in the industry, can manage operations well, so that the goals of making medicines, namely safety, efficacy and quality, can be achieved. while still prioritizing fulfilling customer needs.

This workshop presented 3 expert speakers in the pharmaceutical industry, especially in Supply Chain Management. The first speaker was Dra. Tuti Susilowati G, apt, MM, ICSM who is the Business Operations Director of PT. Bintang Toedjoe Kalbe Farma Group with the topic Value Stream Supply Chain Management. She explained what Supply Chain Management is and why Supply Chain Management is very important in the pharmaceutical industry, “End to end Supply Chain” involves a whole integrated process. From product design and procurement of raw materials then scheduling, production, and then final delivery of the finished product to the customer”

The second speaker was Drs. Pre Agusta, MBA is an Independent Commissioner of PT. Enseval Putra Megatrading Kalbe Farma Group, with the topic Supply Chain Challenges in the Pharmaceutical Industry. He explained the challenges faced and the solutions taken in managing inventory and supply chains in the pharmaceutical industry. An integrated information system is the key to managing efficiently the Indonesian pharmaceutical industry. The system plays a role in collecting, processing, and providing accurate data regarding drug supplies, raw materials, and finished products.”

The last session presentation was by Dr. Berty Argiyantari, who is the Chief Executive Officer of PT Mostrans Kalbe Farma Group. She explained about Pharma Logistics Management and how to manage logistics in pharmacy, especially in the pharmaceutical industry and distributors. She emphasized that products are the main asset of pharmaceutical companies, and pharmaceutical products are not included in the cheap category, so they need to manage distribution and logistics well. She also did not forget to explain how monitoring control along the supply chain and continuous improvement must always be carried out to maintain product quality. Control monitoring also includes data that is managed during the supply chain management process. She emphasized that “Data is the new oil” Because with the data we have, it can be processed as a basis for improvements in the future.”

It is hoped that this seminar will open up insight for the participants, especially pharmacists, about the importance of managing the supply chain in the pharmaceutical industry. The Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada is committed to continuing to support and facilitate the development of pharmacist competencies in Indonesia, especially in the pharmaceutical industry, through various innovative collaborative programs.
